I've seen relatively little of his work. I first saw him hosting a talk show in Canada(he moved around a lot) in the early 80s. The topic of the evening was "Should Canada get rid of the monarchy?") Near the end of the show, one of the guests summed things up by saying "I don't think this is a very big topic in Canada." (For the record, it still isn't.)
Years later, I saw his interview with Ross Perot. All I really remember was this rather awkward exchange when Frost asked about religion...
Quote: |
Perot: With religion, see, I figure I've got that all covered. My mom was Methodist, my dad was Baptist, and my daughter is married to a Catholic. So we're pretty safe.
Frost: Of course, if God turns out to be Buddhist, we're all in trouble.
Perot(somewhere between being caught off guard and just not getting it): Yeah, right.

I never saw his actual interviews with Nixon, though did watch the Ron Howard film from a few years back. According to that movie, Frost actually discovered evidence about Nixon's culpability on Watergate, and got Nixon to break down and admit his illegality on TV.
I gather he was working for Al Jazeera at the end, so I guess he kept up on the trends.

(The Perot quote is from memory, I can't recall exactly what the family's religious history was.) |

Duh, unless you want to continue idolizing a bunch of inbred welfare recipients. |

Problem is, the likely replacement would just be a figurehead president, as in Ireland or Italy. And that person would just end up performing the same duties that the monarch currently does. So it would be a lot time and money spent, ending up with very little practical change from the system we now have. |
