|
|
So, I have a question.
I applied for a d10 visa on august 27th. They gave me a letter saying that I will be apply to collect my card on the 17th. So I found a school, I signed a contract starting on the 13th.
I went into immigration , trying to change my visa but they told me I have to wait till I get my card. Now the recruiter is telling I can change the visa without having the card. They then asked me to work illegal for them until I got the card.
So can I change my visa if I don't have the D10?
Is the recruiter right?
I don't want to do anything illegal, I have had enough problems with my last school. I don't want to go down that route. |

Right there they are admitting you can't change it.
I don't see how it is illegal though. So, I don't agree with them saying you can change the visa or that you are working illegally by working with the school.
If you sign a contract and the employer processes the paperwork, immigration is not going to care. The important thing is that once you get your D10 stuff, then you apply to transfer. |

So the recruiter and the school are asking you to work on a tourist visa?
I don't know the answer to this one but I wouldn't do anything contrary to what immigration has told you. |

Not a tourist visa, he would be working a D-10 which is a looking for work visa. Which the OP states he can not work on. The recruiter is saying he can work on OR change it. The OP can not until he gets the ARC back. Ignore what the recruiter is saying, it only matters what immigration says or cares.
Sounds like minor ethical dilemma. The school is asking for the teacher to teach for 4 or 5 days on the D-10. To me that is a minor thing. Some people have done similar with tourist visas before doing a visa run. Immigration will likely not care or do anything against the teacher. That is as long as they keep things quite. I would do it, but make sure submitted contract and future end dates coincide with a full term visa. So date contract that is submitted to immigration on the day you are applying not the 13th. Also do not let the under the table work go too long if you decide to do it. |

Back up. Actually, we don't know if he has a D-10. They have applied. So, essentially the original poster is no different than someone completing a contract term and looking for a new job. In this case, immigration wouldn't care. |
