Hi ...I have a question for the public school teachers...
I'm new to the large 30 student classes and wondering what games
especially vocabulary work best in such a large class.
Has anyone heard of 'stop the bus' and know how that's played
Or, jeopardy>...does anyone play that, and if so, how? with ppt ?
any ideas of what's worked well..thanks!! |

If you can get .ppt games to work, then go for it.
In my experiences, students blurt out answers and don't really cooperate at a game level. I divide each class into 5-6 groups, usually based on where they are seated. Then, I randomly select students. You can use a deck of cards, take out the A-5 or 6 depending on how many rows there are. Use colored markers for lower levels.
Then you just take 2 cards and get a student that way. If teams are developed, then you can do it a different way. Make the best 5 or 6 students leaders and then have them help their team.
The idea is to have someone new speak each time. Even if they get the answer from the team or the class, they have to say it. This breaks the barrier of just having someone yell out the correct answer. |
