I know that GEPIK has a rule about having 2 reference letters
in order to get a position (one has to be your current or most recent employer in Korea).

I had some health problems with my most recent public school and they were quite pissed off with me at the end of my contract and did not renew me. They will not give me a reference letter, only a "certificate of employment".

Now I'm on the D-10 and looking to work at a public school in one of the provinces surrounding Gyeongi-do (such as Gangwon-do).

Is the strict reference letter requirment generally for all public school jobs?

Thanks in advance.

Are you really surprised? You walked out of a class, which you were teaching alone? Then left the school - also without telling anyone.

I know you were having a 'panic attack' - but still!

You will at least have to put a contact number of your last school, or the local POE number, who would then contact your old school anyway.

Last I checked they want the contact names, emails and phone numbers from the public schools you've worked at. If you only have a phone but not an email or vice versa from each contact, that will usually suffice. Unless they have recently changed, the letters you have to send by email etc. didn't have to come from any of the public schools. If it now does, that pretty much ends any probability that I will work for GEPIK, not that I would bother applying anyway. Do you know how difficult it is to get a written reference letter out of a Korean school unless you are presently at the school hounding them for it. If you are no longer working for them it could be difficult to say the least.
