Ok... there's some stuff I just don't remember... like the exact month in which I started and ended elementary school back in Romania (I did up to grade 4 there). I seriously have no way to find out... my grandparents who live there probably don't know and checking records is out of the question in a country where officials show 0 cooperation. And heck, I don't even remember the exact month I finished and graduated from elementary school in Canada. I tried to check records and they got me to fill out a form... it will take 10 business days (I have to go somewhere to scan my ID and convert the signed form to digital form before I can send it to them through e-mail).

Do you know if EPIK double checks every single detail on your education record? Something tells me that getting this EPIK form filled out might take me forever and I'm too late starting out. Shocked

No they don't. Just make up some approximate dates in that case.

Working for EPIK is the same as working for anybody. As long as you have the dates for your university graduation, then you should be fine with approximating the rest. I very much doubt they care about the exact dates of your elementary school, provided you meet the requirements.

Erm...if you can't figure out when you started kindergarten, how will they?

Get the stuff that is easily verified right, and the rest to your best ability. As long as they don't think you're trying to mislead them or are incompetent, it's not likely they will care or even know you made a mistake.

Don't put that you attended elementary school in Romania. They are not going to check your elementary school records period. High School is very unlikely also. There is no way they are going to take the time and effort to do that. So make something up. I think your application might end up in the trash bin if you mention you immigrated from Romania. If you have an accent you could tell the interviewers you grew up in a Romanian community where you are in, or better yet tell them you are Puerto Rican, or Hispanic. I don't think they would know the difference from your name, seriously. The might not see anything wrong with Romanian parents, but you immigrating from Romania that's another thing all together.

I don't know you might want to consider what the other posters are telling you, just ignore the trolls that constantly pop up on these types of threads.

You really should find the exact date of graduation. And also the time. Be sure to take into consideration the time zone difference, and put down what time it was in Korea.

I'm not sure if I want to "make stuff up". I already asked the question on the EPIK Facebook page and I got an official reply :

"Yes, it is necessary to list those years. If you didn't we'd assume you were not educated until you moved to Canada. Try your best to find out the name of your school, you might want to try google maps and check in your old city Best of luck!"

I COULD try to make something up but why the heck would I? Do I really want to lie on an official document? After all, I meet all the eligibility requirements for getting into EPIK:

- I have a citizenship from Canada
- I have studied in Canada since the 5th grade (elementary school) up to University from the country listed above (so that's far more than 10 years)
- I've been living in Canada for almost 19 years

Glad I could help. ALSO, when you find the dates, go to an on line solar lunar conversion table to find out the lunar graduation date. It is best to give both. especially if there are some older people involved in your application process that follow more traditional systems.

Perhaps you should change your email address now? If EPIK can match your email to that question then perhaps that's a good idea.

"We'd assume you were not educated until you moved to Canada" WTF does that mean? Perhaps lying about where you attended elementary school is not such a bad idea? As far as the dates approximate them. Believe I don't think they are going to try to get your high school records let alone elementary school records.

Here a rule for life son. Ask an official body an official question, you get an official question. Of course, they will reply that. But, you can save yourself and themself a hassle. Someone in recruiting may see another background and put the application to the side. Just say you went to school in Canada. You only have to provide proof of university. Learn to read between the lines.

The information has to be complete, but please they are not going to check your elementary and high school information.
