After spending several years in Korea I've come and gone on several different visas, ranging from student visas, work visas to run of the mill tourist visas. Over this time I've accumulated quite a bit of information regarding the various visas. But I've noticed something that doesn't sit right with me over this time - and that is the fact that UK passport holders are only allowed 90 day visa waivers. Normally I wouldn't have a problem with this, as I tend to travel quite a bit, but it recently came to my attention that Korean passport holders are entitled to a 6-month visa waiver in the UK.

Canada and Korea for example have a lateral visa agreement that entitles both parties to a 6-month waiver. That seems fair, so does anyone know why the UK isn't entitled to that same treatment? Seems a bit unbalanced. Are there any plans to reticfy this in the future?

They use different systems. Koreans do get a 6 month visa waiver but they can only stay for a max of 6 months out of 12. So no quick day trip to France and a fresh 6 month visa.
In Korea yes it is only 3 months but you can leave for a day (or even an afternoon) and get another 3 months.
If you want longer than 3 months you can always apply for an extended visa.
