Any thoughts on this fight?
Alvarez is my boy and I've been predicting for about 3 years now that he is going to be the one to take the throne from Mayweather. Didn't think he'd be the one directly dethroning him and didn't think they'd fight each other so soon, but I'm really stoked for it.
To be honest, I'm not sure if Canelo is ready for this fight. He'll probably end up frustrated like everyone else who takes on Money Mayweather. The man can't be hit. Love his defensive style.
My two fav fighters head to head. Who could ask for anything more?
Well, I guess there is one more thing I can ask for....a venue to watch it.
Anyone know of anywhere in Korea that will be showing it for certain? I'm willing to travel anywhere. I'm going to be in Daejeon, but willing to go to Seoul, Busan...wherever.
If you are a boxing aficionado feel free to join me. |

I was actually about to start a thread on this and post the All Access episodes that are on youtube. It probably belongs in the Off-Topic section though.

I'm so stoked for this fight too. I think Canelo will be the next big thing after Mayweather and Pacquiao retire and I am impressed how he gets better after every fight. I think it's too soon for him to beat Floyd though. If he fought Floyd maybe 2 or 3 years later he would have a better chance but right now Floyd is still too quick along with all the skill and technique he commands.
Also remember that this event will feature Danny Garcia vs Lucas Matthysse for the 140lb title. This fight can headline an event by itself but Golden Boy has really decided to treat the fans this time. Can't wait for this fight as well.
I'm guessing some sports bars in Itaewon are going to show it. I'm watching it at home though so I can analyse it in peace and quiet. |

Ya, will likely have to head to Itaewon to watch it. Was hoping there would be a place in either Daejeon or Busan, but unless I hear otherwise I'm headed to the'won. |

3 Alley Pub in Itaewon will definitely air it, as well as Scrooge. Get there early as seats will fill up fast.
As for the fight, I say Floyd will win but don't underestimate Canelo. Canelo will probably outweight Floyd by 15 or so pounds on fight day because Floyd has never gone over 152 pounds. Floyd is the master but then again, upsets in boxing are nothing new and the fight is in Mexico, Canelo's homeland. Don't forget, Sugar Shane Mosley got in a good punch against Floyd and Floyd was lucky to get out of that jam.
Canelo needs to keep Floyd away with his reach and get in a few power punches to hurt Floyd. Floyd is a master tactician and usually frustrates his opponents into getting sloppy because Floyd is just so quick and elusive.
Should be a good fight but my money is on Money, despite leaving much to be desired in the person dept. |

It's an insult to say Floyd was "lucky" against Shane. That he kept his composure after getting hurt like that is a testament to his skill and what kind of fighter he is.
The fight's in Vegas, not Mexico.

it seems that every time Mayweather fights or is mentioned, somebody has to talk about how he's a shitty person and his personality sucks. As a mayweather fan and a person who's generally skeptical of the shit on TV, I have to challenge this.
If you followed Floyd since he was a young prospect, you'd know he was actually soft spoken and humble. He tried to establish his image as this nice, All-American but that failed to get him sales. Floyd's career really started to take off when he started talking shit and acting like he does now. In fact Floyd himself admitted in a recent interview that his personality is an act to sell tickets. It's just unfortunate because he isn't as charismatic as Ali or Tyson was because people just think he's an asshole. To me his act seems very unnatural and fake. And he's only really like that in shows like 24/7 and All Access where they edit it and script it to sell the fight. If you look at his appearances on talk shows where he's on the spot, he is much less brash and talkative. Not to mention the guy always showers his opponents with praise after the fight.
But I don't know him. I tend to not make judgements of a person without knowing that person in real life. I don't know how he treats his gym members or his friends. He flashes money on camera but so what? I'm sure I do something that will seem dickish to a lot of people if they only saw that side of me on camera. Plus its not like he stole the money or got it through dubious means. He worked for it and put his entire being so he can be where he is now.
At the end of the day, I don't judge fighters for their personalities because it's not a personality contest. In my opinion how a fighter conducts him or herself in the ring when faced with adversity is the truest test of his/her character. Floyd may act like a douche but his fights tell me he's actually a hard worker and possesses a strong will. A mentally weak person who lacks the drive and resilience cannot be at that level of boxing.
The only real attack on Floyd one can make is his domestic violence charge. But I share Bill Burr's stance on the matter of domestic violence so its not something I care to make judgements about. |

Look, you are entitled to your opinion but Shane had a golden chance to score perhaps the biggest upset in boxing history and blew it. So yes, I'll give it to Floyd for keeping his composure but...
And sorry about getting the venue wrong. I stand corrected. I think I got confused after someone said Marquez vs. Pac-man V could be in Mexico.
As for Floyd as a person, well, act or no, just wish he could be a more likable person out of the ring. And I hope he fights Pac-man before either of them retires. |

I know this is a long shot, but does anyone know any bars in Gangnam that might be showing it?
Just out of interest how do they show it in Korea? Can you buy pay-per-view over the internet in Korea? |

I love Vegas fight times here. In the UK I'd have to stay up until 3 or 4 before the fight even started, here it's midday Sunday! Quite often I'll be up at 5 or 6 for a fight in Germany or the UK then get a bit of sleep and be up for a fight in Vegas. Good times.
Alvarez has impressed me a lot, but I never pick against Floyd. I don't believe he'll retire undefeated but until he loses I'll be firmly expecting him to win, the man is outstanding |

According to a reliable source, Scrooge is undergoing renovation, that's all. |

Just for the record, I think Alvarez will lose on points. He will likely get frustrated at not being able to hit Mayweather cleanly and tends to tire in the middle rounds and loses some of his quickness.
Mayweather will likely put on another clinic, but should be a great learning experience for Canelo. One he can take with him for the rest of his career.
Very excited for this fight. |

With Floyd's hand issues, the weight, and the stylistic differences, I think its very unlikely he will knock Canelo out. Win or lose, Canelo gains something from this. Nobody is going to brush off him as a bum by getting beat by the best fighter in the world at such a young age. Honestly I think this fight will be relatively "calm" by the fireworks that will be Garcia vs Matthyse and people will call it boring. |

Can anyone confirm that 3 Alleys Pub are definitely showing it? There's nothing on their Facebook page.
Also for those who've been before, what time should I be looking to get down there? The fight starts around 1PM so is 11:30-12ish early enough? I'm not bothered about a seat as long as I can see the screen.
Cheers |

I think it depends on what is playing but I'm thinking that the Floyd-Canelo fight is the biggest of the year and should play at 3 Alley Pub and/or Sam Ryan's.
I think Floyd will give Canelo his first professional loss BUT a good punch to Floyd's face could change things.
Speculation says the winner of this fight could face Pac-man but given Floyd's history of ducking the Filipino... |
