SO, my school has been giving me and another teacher our Housing Allowance at different times each month; never on the same day as my monthly salary.
In the contract, there is no specified date as to when it should be paid but I thought it was a given that it is paid as part of the salary package i.e. on the same day as your salary.
So, when do you get paid your housing allowance? |

I dont know why a school wouldnt just lump it in with your pay (one transaction), unless they're scrambling. |

By separating the housing allowance and paying at different times periods it might not be classified as "wages" when things like severance and that are calculated. That is one theory. Legally do not know if it would work.
ALSO!
What kind of school? If this public school then things are likely going to be different. |

I"m paid on the same day, and it is separate from salary, and thus exempt from pension, severance, etc. Legally, that is why it is not just given as part of your salary, it is not wages and not part of severance and pension calculations. |
