| I work at a private school where I am given the syllabus and daily lesson plans and where there are no grades. I have a couple of older classes who have figured out that there is no way I can penalize them for not doing their work or participating in class. They don't even respond to games! The only game I've been able to get the to participate in is sticky ball and tag. Does anyone have any suggestions on lesson tweaks or games or topics that might get through to them? My native co-teacher is having similar trouble with the kids. We're at a loss! |

Remember:
They want to come to the "academy" but they don't want to learn English.
Don't be too hard on yourself.
Do your best and remember that it's all about appearances. They will notice if you are stressed and frusterated and will go after you more. If you appear stressed and frusterated you will draw unwanted attention from the few students who actually want to learn. All types of people can become bloodhounds.
The owner does not care about how much they are learning, you will annoy him/her if you ask for help.
Relax, and for ideas waygook.org has some good game ideas.
Best of luck! |
