Tonight was a first, a school kid asked me in a convenience store if I could buy him a lighter.
Is this a new trend or old trend? |

A couple of underage boys were wanting me to buy them a pack of cigarettes last year. I told them I never got to know my grandfather because he was a smoker and died of lung cancer when I was two. I told them to save their money, invest it wisely, and get to know their grandchildren someday. They were very polite about my reply. |

I buy kids lighters here all the time. I bought one for some kids here in Itaewon over the weekend who said they wanted Apple to burn in hell. Kids. Whatever, they're just jovial young pranksters having a little fun. |

I swear that once upon a time I heard that the law here (or the unwritten rule, at least) allows for minors to buy cigarettes (cuz daddy loves to send little timmy to the store to buy smokes for him), but that it's illegal for them to buy lighters because that's a sign the kid is actually going to smoke the cigarettes. |

a very long time ago, I remember when a friends mom would always pick one of us at random to go over to the convenience store and pick up cigarettes for her. We were in elementary school at the time.
By the time I hit high school, you couldn't buy a lighter with candles...because well who knows why. You could possess one, you could use one, but be damned if you could drop the $1 to buy one.. |
