I never read anything by him. Not really my thing, even when I was into fiction. Saw a couple of movies based on his books. Okay for a bored Sunday afternoon.

Just read about this before seeing it here. I tried to read a couple Clancy books from my dad's library in high school, but they didn't click with me. The American noir fiction always murdered that second rate spy novel schtick, to me, at least. I know he was also American, but Clancy was always someone I viewed as a Fleming wannabe. Not a bad writer or story creator or anything like that; just an asshole, and I'm not in a position to judge, either. Shit, I just did that, didn't I.
Clear and Present Danger and Patriot Games are great movies, though. |
