I have some family coming in October and was thinking of traveling around the country. The big sites are easy enough, but in the middle we were hoping to visit a nice town to just sit and have a few drinks for a few days. Nice scenery, old-school restaurants, simple guesthouse, easy walks. Any ideas?
Someone has mentioned small towns around Danyang, but I'm willing to go anywhere to find somewhere beautiful. Maybe the south coast is better?

Do you have an example? In my experience, small Korean towns tend to be depressing and ugly unless they are tourist attractions.

Andong is bit off the beaten track, but not very practical unless you have a car. Lots of nice scenery, though, and plenty of easy walking trails. Same goes for Namhae.

Sorry, I missed your reply. Someone has recommended the area around Danyang, so we're renting a car and going for it. After that we were planning on heading to Tongyeong to spend a day at Bijin-do. Maybe we'll stop at Andong for a night on the way down.
Thanks!
