Hi, those you currently searching jobs in Korea, I would appreciate it if you would be kind enough to share figures on any offers you are getting (rough numbers)
I have an offer of just above 2.5m won + housing. Would this be considered a fairly decent offer for somebody new to teaching English in Korea? I do not have any full time experience in this field.
I did want to try public schools at first but seems they have a very strict paygrade scale, where I would only fit in at entry levels 2.0-2.1m, with a masters degree in a non-related field and a TEFL 120 hours course.
Really appreciate your responses in advance, and any experiences you wish to share. Would also love to hear from those you currently looking for work in Korea via PM for a chat |

2.5 + housing is good for a first time position here. BUT..... it will also depend on the hours.
If you lack experience, then you might end up doing 30 classes a week (or more) for that salary. If you haven't taught before, aim for 25 classes (not 25 hours) per week. Teaching is intensive work and it can really drain you fast. If you have to choose between money and hours, take the better hours. After you've been teaching for a year, then decide how many hours you think you can handle. |
