|
|
Hey guys, sent off my paperwork for a CBC last week and was wondering what the turnaround time is this time of year? Last time I worked in Korea I came over in April, this time I'm looking at December.
(Sorry for all the...times...I said time.)
Thanks. |

| I ordered mine about 4 weeks ago. It only took 2 and a half weeks for me to get it. I did not use any service to speed it up either. |

That's good to hear, but you're not going to count on that are you OP? |

| Due to the government shutdown, people are reporting that the FBI is basically not working on these right now, or are severely slowing down the process. |

No of course not, it's only one person's experience. |

December.... .... lol ...
If you are LUCKY, with the current state of (federal) affairs in the States, you should be able to be here with documents in hand by March.

Mmm, mine was received a few days before the shutdown started. sadly, the fbi cjis division (the fine folks who will be processing those fingerprints) is closed. I called. they were deemed as "non-essential" |

Considering South Korea tends to want to learn American-style English, I wonder if they'd have any issues if way fewer Americans were coming in February. Probably means a lot of South Africans coming in (there were a ton at my orientation last February) since the wages in South Korea are so much higher than what they'd get back home (AFAIK)...
Canada and Australia have pretty strong economies now. I guess Ireland and the UK are still pretty weak but you don't see many of them here in Korea, or Kiwis. |

Another buddy of mine sent me an email from the FBI saying that until the government shutdown is finished, the CJIS Division is not processing ANY CBCs. It went on to say that once the shutdown is over, then they will be processed in the order they were received.
Fortunately, I sent mine in late June and got it three weeks later.
Remember, you will have to also figure in the time for sending it to Washington, DC to the State Department for the apostile, the processing time for that apostile, and receiving the apostile and CBC back in your hands in the mail.
Like someone else said, I'd consider December to be a good estimation, or early next year on getting all your stuff returned. |

| Well thankfully the gov't shutdown is now over and luckily I'm within a short driving distance of D.C. so if time becomes an issue I can get my apostille done in person. |
