Well it's been 6 years since my last trip to Korea and two years and change since arriving back from Tokyo. After a hellish period of unemployment and watching 15k of savings vanish, I have finally landed not one but two potentially very lucrative roles at home in England. I have a beautiful girlfriend I'm moving in with, plans afoot for decorating, xmas etc. Love my NFL Sunday nights with my mates.
But.
The poison is always there. The remoteness and sense of being lost and a true stranger. The nights out until dawn and the food; and the sense of exploration. Korea and Japan are my fantasies now. Kernels of lust. Ambitions that must be checked - (they were never ambitions).
That wanderlust for the neon of Korea has me - I guess I will just have to live with it. |
