I know there's an area with streets of hiking/outdoor shops, somewhere around DongdaeMoon, NamdaeMoon, maybe further north, I can't remember. Anyone know the subway station and even exit for this?
I specifically want to buy a large backpack, 80 litres.

Hoehyeon Station, the exit leading to Namdaemun market
Another one is at Dongdaemun market area, not sure about which station |

Near Myeong-dong, just down the street from the old Bank of Korea building there on the corner. |

Jongno 5 ga, exit 5 or 6 I believe, next to Cheongyecheon river.
Easy to find and loads of hiking shops, search around and you will get a good deal. They are all doing 20% off at the moment. |

Bump
I've just taking up hiking here in Korea....was down at Sokrisan last weekend and plan on hiking Woraksan this weekend. Thing is all I had to wear were a pair of Nike trainers, sweatpants and an old soccer hoodie....I looked like some guy who just rolled out of bed. Needless to say I need to buy some gear!
Does anyone know if the areas listed in this thread are still the go to places for hiking gear? I'm looking into getting a pair of those hiking pants all the old hikers wear. Only problem is I feel like it may be a bit difficult finding ones that will fit me. No I'm not fat I just have long legs and very thick quads (years of cycling). Where do you think my best bet is to find some gear that will fit?
Thanks again. |

You can buy hiking clothes pretty much anywhere these days. Near the popular mountains there's always a cluster of shops as well as the places mentioned above.
Then every department store has about half a floor dedicated to hiking shops
There's a good sporting goods store underground where the #2 lines stops at Myeong-dong Lotte Dept. store. It's diagonally across from the entrance to Lotte and halfway up the stairs. They always have sales but even if they don't ask for a discount. Chances are you'll get one. |

You could also try OK Outdoor in Dongdaemun. It's a fairly large store that stocks all the hiking gear you'll need. They offer discounts on just about everything I believe, although certain items can be costly. There's even a membership card which entitles you to further savings/discounts. Worth checking out IMO. Near Exit 5 Dongdaemun History & Culture Park stn. |

Thanks for the replies everyone. Turns out some outlets in my area are having a sale this weekend so I'm going to check out their hiking section....if all else fails I think I'll check out OK Outdoor as I've had a few others recommend it to me recently. |
