Sorry, the search still isn't working.
Anyone know of a good/nice/clean gym in the Sinchon/Ewha/Hondae area? I've toured one near Ewha but after seeing a huge guy bench five sets of some ridiculous weight and not wipe anything down, I was hesitant.
Any suggestions helpful |

i've never seen a korean wipe anything down in a gym....
if you walk about 10 mins from ewha station towards daeheung, you'll find the mapo arts center gym. it's ok, but then i don't exactly know what a decent gym is like. i'm sure there are some around sinchon that would be closer to the subway |

VIP Fitness. It's on the main road running straight down from the front gate of HongIk. Cross the major street at the intersection and go straight. It's across from the big wedding hall. Downstairs in the building with the bakery.
-Free weights
-2 sqash courts
-new equipment
-separate room for running machines (all with TVs) and bikes
-sauna
-massage chairs (if you dig those...I don't)
-decent shower and changing facilities
-towels and clothing provided (if you fit into a US medium)
They are having a 2 for 1 special now. I go with my wife and it runs us about 26,000 won a month each for a six month membership. I think you can also opt for a one year membership at that fixed price if you sign up on your own. |

Swash Fitness at the Dongyo-dong 3-geori is the best gym I found after living in the area for two years and checking out several. It's two floors, spacious, well equipped, well-staffed, and the layout keeps the back-pounding, backwards walking, cell-phone chatting adjummas on a separate floor.

How much are these places? Tough to beat 26K a month!
Oh, and there is the community center in HongDae just across from the Prugio Apartment side entrance. Very basic, but usually empty and very cheap. If you have a Korean spouse, you get a price break, too. They have a pool and yoga going as well. |

Just go and check it out. At the community center, you register on an upper floor at an admin office. The gym is downstairs. |

No, I mean details as to the location. Or, if you can, let me know in hangul what it is and I can look for it on the net. |

Sorry bout that, and thanks for posting a map.
There is only one Prugio Apartment in front of HongIk University main gate. Find the side entrance. The community center is a large building and directly across from it. Cheers, P.R. |

Are there any good dungeons in Sinchon?
I say Dungeon because if you ask if there are good gyms here people say "Yes there's a great clean place with dumbbells that go up to 25kg! Good luck with your being trim and slim goals for 2012!"
Obviously a real squat rack over a smith machine is preferred but I know that's asking too much in Korea. I could probably focus on my deadlift while I'm here instead.
I prefer cheap and dirty over expensive and clean, because I'm going to lift weights off the floor, not eat my breakfast on it. |

Search for Mapo Arts Center. Their gym has everything you need. 45,000. In between Daheung Station and Ewha. |

Could someone give me exakt directions on how to find Swash fitness close to Hongik University subwaystation. I did go there but could not find it, I think that a map pointing it out would be really helpful.
Thanks |
