|
|
In another thread I saw people mention that the waitstaff in Korea are paid really low wages.
How low is it? Are the foreigners working in Itaewon getting paid as low as the locals?
I ask because I remember hearing about a guy in Japan who was paid more money to work a crappy job simply because he was a foreigner. Obviously that's a different country, but I always wondered if the foreigners in Itaewon were making decent money. |

It's normally between 5,000 and 6,000 per hour more if you work the night shift (i.e. 10pm to 6am). But I've never heard of anyone making more than 10,000 an hour. |

They definitely aren't making decent money if they're just wait staff/bartending, especially with the lack of tipping here
If you also happen to be a part owner though you could be clearing some decent bank, especially given how itaewon is trendy now and will get even "better" once the GI's are all sent south |

Money comes in from a lot of different directions when you're in the game at a good bar/club. In 2009 I made about 25K from my part time income, which bumped me up to 75K for the year. It all comes down to having a good supply. The demand never dries up in Korea. |

That was funny, but it was contraband not sexual favors. |
