|
|
Well, I searched and searched thinking somewhere there must be a list of the online Masters Degrees (relevant to teaching English in Korea) available to us... but with no luck.
Can people please post any information they have for on-line programs? Please include the time it takes to finish the degree and the approximate cost?
I am contemplating starting a degree next year.
Thanks to all that respond. |

If you're looking at courses from UK universities, try findamasters.com. Set the search function to D/L and then you'll probably have to try a few different keywords (TESOL, ELT, AL, etc.)
If you're looking for options elsewhere, then I'm not sure. |

I lived in Korea about five years ago. I lived in Korea for about 10 years total. I did an MA program in Vietnam, but it was given by the University of Canberra, Australia. I have an MA from U of Canberra. (Occasionally, I visit this site just for "fun" and see what is happening in the Korea ESL community.) The program took about a year and a half to complete and cost about $5000 US for tuition when I did it. There are lots of cheap places to stay in Vietnam. Hotels can be as little as $10 a day or $30 a day, depending if you want air conditioning, etc. Once you go there the first time and make a few friends, you can pay a friend to arrange for you to have an apartment the second time you go there which will be MUCH cheaper than even the cheap hotels. Also, you can get a maid to come every day for (when I was there) $20 a month!
I went to Vietnam for 1 month, three times and did papers after each session. It wasn't that expensive and was a fairly easy program and I got to see Vietnam.
E-mail Jeremy Jones (above) or google "Ann Oner" at the University of Canberra. They will have all the info. This is a perfect program if you have the winter and summer vacation times that Korean Universities normally give you.
(By the way, I didn't want to become a teacher when I left Korea. I became a Power Engineer. The major oil and gas company I now work for in northern Alberta (not Fort McMurray) provides with with a five bedroom house, pays all utilities and I make about $200 000 a year. Yes, there is life after Korea! My housing kind of kicks but on anything offered in Korea, but let's not open that can of worms |
