I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to ask this question or not... but anyway...

I have bleach blonde dyed hair and I'm moving to Korea in just a couple of weeks. I am wondering if anyone that has the same hair color has a hard time maintaining it over there?

I know blonde hair isn't that common in Korea and I read about some people having a hard time even finding hair dye that was lighter shades. I'm sure there are hair salons that will bleach hair but is it super expensive? Should I just bring a bunch of hair stuff with me from the states or is it easy to find there?

Any advice on the subject is appreciated! ^_^

No shortage of affordable hair-stylists in Korea.

I assume you're Asian? If you're white don't go blonde.

To bring this back to "job related discussion" let me remark that being beach blonde boosts your employment prospects by approximately 10 fold. Wink

Despite speaking extensively to the colorist, and making sure she had the right product, I still ended up with awful, orange hair, instead of my usual cool ash. The hair stylist thought it looked fine, and just didn't understand the different shades of blonde. I was in the hair salon for a total of 5 hours, and left with hair the color of a baby duck and the condition was totally destroyed.

I then had someone recommend Hair & Joy in Hongdae. I went there and had my hair put back to it's natural color, because the condition was so bad it couldn't have handled being lightened again. Once the condition has improved in a few months They've said they can put it back to my previous ash blonde.

I'd definitely try Hair & Joy, even if you're not close to Hongdae it's worth the trip.

If you are comfortable dying your own hair, I would recommend bringing your own hair dye. I usually do my own, because the salons that don't screw it up cost an arm and a leg.

Hi, I've been living in Korea for almost 3 years now and had the same question when I came here. Most hair dressers do not use toner here, and you will end up with an orange-y or brassy colour. Fortunately, I found the best (!) hairdresser who studied in London and she does an amazing job with my hair. I have my hair white blonde (light ash blonde) and every time, she's done an amazing job. Best of all, her and her staff speak English very well. Here is her salon information:

Lucy Hair
Sinchon, Seoul
Tel. 02-325-2225

You'll be very happy with her!

Enjoy Korea!

Hey I have bleach blonde hair... decided to dye it brown as I didnt bring dye with me so bought medium brown.... put the dye on and came out perfect blonde colour I had already!!
Think the asian dyes must be stronger as to dye black hair brown they need quite strong peroxide!

Dye smells awesome... kids love my hair and colour has worked well for me (I do it myself)

Check out the hair dye 'Bubble' medium brown Very Happy
