Hey,
Iam sure this as been done to death on here, but I couldn't find any information on it? I havn't been able to find any information on the internet either???
Has anyone taken YBM-SISA's Japanese Classes??? If so, what are the requirements and stipulations for enrolling?? I heard they were conducted in Korean, but I wanted to make truth to this claim.
Thanks, ellie |

I checked at a YBM-SISA one time about this. At first the class is taught in Korean. Supposedly as it goes along there is more and more Japanese until it becomes an immersion course. How much of this is actually true in reality, I'm not sure.
They told me I could enroll if I wanted to, and that they thought I could handle it. My Korean level is sufficient for Yonsei Level 6 on paper, but in reality I wouldn't describe my Korean ability as being any better than "intermediate." I'm not a gyopo -- Korean is truly a second language for me. So you don't need to have super hot Korean skills to study Japanese at YBM-SISA, BUT if you speak Korean like the average English teacher here (basically none whatosever) then don't expect to survive the course.
As I recall, though, the regular program is pretty expensive. They also have Saturday programs that seem far more reasonable price-wise. |

I took them. I could barely speak Korean at a high beginner level. It was no problem. The first hour is with a native Japanese teacher and the other half is with a Korean teacher who mostly speaks Japanese (Gangnam).
The classes at the JongNo branch are done completely in Japanese with a Japanese teacher though.
You might have to always preview the chapter first though. The conversation class's book has no Korean whatsoever in the book. |

Thanks..
I was worried because I speak almost no Korean. I was told that if I could read Hirigiana fluenty, I would be fine...but I was worried about getting lost in Korean speech.

Anyone still know if this is true?
I certainly don't want to learn Japanese from a Korean person. |
