I have just returned to Korea less than a week ago and I find myself in a bind. My Korean wife wanted to study in Canada. It was about a year and 3 months. It went well, but now upon returning and having to apply for jobs employers are asking for apostilled degrees and apostilled crc checks. I have never needed these before.
This process looks complicated and something that looks much easier done within Canada, but I'm here in Korea! I have an F-6 visa. Do I really need to have an RCMP level criminal record check done with fingerprints to get a basic job?! Or, will I be okay with one done at the local police station that I did before I left to Korea?
Advice will be greatly appreciated. |

Oh for working basic job like a bar or an office you do not need a CRC. If you mean a basic ESL job, then yes you will need a CRC. Even as a F6 you still need to qualify and prove credentials for teaching. Rather then immigration wanting it it will be the Ministry of Education. Schools that skip paperwork risk fines and closure. |

You are Canadian?
You need a copy of your police check (RCMP is best but any major police service will suffice.) It then needs to be authenticated by the Korean embassy in prior to use in Korea.
The same with your degree. You need to go to a notary and get a certified true copy made and have that copy then certified by the Korean embassy in Canada.
IF you are in Canada the process can be done in a few days.
If you are in Korea process will take 4-6 months.
