My recruiter states that an adapter will change the plug shape but a converter must also be used. Does anybody know if the converter will work with a US hairdryer....I have to push the reset button every time I use it. It cost $100 and I don't want to buy a new one...but I don't want to blow this one up either....gracias |

It's a total waste of time and money, IMHO, to bring the thing with you. Transformers that will handle something like that will jack up your electric bill, IME. Korea's not a backwater. They have all kinds of hair dryers and the benefit of getting one in Korea is that it's already wired for the local current. |

Unfortunately the converter works with every other American product except hair dryers. Welcome to Korea. |

Leave your hairdryer (and anything else that is NOT rated for 220VAC or dual voltage) at home.
If you bring it the cost of the voltage converter/transformer able to handle the wattage (750-1500w) will be more than the cost of a replacement hairdryer at your local e-mart or home-plus (this isn't some 3rd world, country).
If you plug your N.American hairdryer in directly you will just burn it up with the 220VAC power from the mains.
