For December I will be staying in southern Gangnam-gu, near Suseo. My flat does not come with internet, and there is no nearby wifi network to which I can connect.

Is there really no way to get internet access without a contract?

Please let me know if you or anyone you know has ever done this.

Thanks a lot for any help!

you can pay internet/cable tv per month, but it will cost you around 50% more than the standard monthly contracted rate, i.e. a 40k a month deal would cost you 60k per month until you make it at least a 12month deal

That would be fine to me. It's certainly better than having no home internet at all.

But I don't have a TV set, so wouldn't need cable.

With what company can you do this?

if you only use internet for small things you can always use your phone as a 3g modem. or if you have a plan with a cell company already you can add on something like a wibro egg for cheap.
