Has anyone taught at 30-28, Pyeongchon-gil, Gonjiam-eup, Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do?
Looks like an extremely rural location, but that doesn't bother me too much.
I have a GEPIK offer there. Thanks! |

I have taught near there, with the GEPIK program in rural areas, but not there. You'll be fine. Accept the offer. |

I taught at the middle school there: great co-workers, for the most part and and pretty decent principle (probably still there too: he had just started at the school the year I left).
Takes about 45 minutes to get into Seoul. The (green) 300 bus is a good place to start: it will take you to Moran-yak, one of the closest subway terminals in Seoul, and it goes through Gwanju-si. There are two red buses which go into Seoul as well, numbered 200 something (can't quite recall, maybe 280 was one?): one will take you to Lotte World, and there is a skating rink there. The other will take you to Gangnam, which happens to be home to the closest (or most convenient) Costco.
The village itself is very foreigner friendly: there is a Pharmacist near the small park right off the highway which speaks English fluently and lived in the states for 30 years. His wife as well, both very nice and very helpful. James (son/employee of Pizza School) makes excellent pizza and will try to get you to go into Seoul with him. If you are older than him, pay for dinner/lunch! He actually did get offended when I wanted to split the bill (I was pretty new at the time, didn't completely understand), even though he is also fluent.
Anyways if you have any more questions, send me a PM. I'll answer what I can. |
