|
|
I've heard a few interviews where Chomsky simply rejects any possibility of U.S. involvement in the September 11th terrorist attacks in New York in 2001. He will not entertain the idea. He has said that it would be impossible for so many people to collude without someone leaking information.
I don't want to get into the details here - e.g., NYPD Comissioner Bernard Kerik. But does anyone think that Chomsky may have received threats to shut up about the 9-11 attacks?
This is something I've thought about for a while. It doesn't add up. How can a scholar like Chomsky, who's made a career out of being a dissident, be so quiet on the alternative news and 9-11.
My only guess is that he's been leaned on pretty hard by the CIA or darker shadow powers that exist.
On August 29th, it was reported that CIA does indeed keep Chomsky under surveillance, and likely the FBI, too. The CIA and FBI do, and have, assassinated people in the U.S. and abroad. Has Chomsky been on that list? |

No, I don't think anyone at all has threatened the man into accepting reality. And I think 9/11 conspiracy theorists are utter morons. |

Yeah, I think a lot of people think alternative theorists are morons.
But don't you think there are some gaps in information or explanations? I am not decided either way, other than that there are some interesting facts that have been presented.
And, once you look at the people involved, it's a very compelling topic. |

9/11 Conspiracy Theorists (except those who say we let the attack happen, but everything else was real) can't explain this simple questions-
Why is it necessary to bring down the towers to start a war? Planes slamming into them isn't enough?
Now if you want to say someone decided to let them pull it off, fine. Plausible. An ignored report here, a subtle directive there, it can happen in the bureaucratic machine. |

Its been ten years and all your side has presented is a whole wad of questions and not a shred of evidence. |

Yes, this is an interesting line of thought. However, I think that the bulls are worth a listen. |

This could be easily explained in several ways. 1) The information contained in said gaps is "classified". 2) Regarded as "unnecessary detail".
3) Would show that some people were lazy and ignored warning signs.
None of the above necessarily point to a conspiracy in the slightest.
Of course we don't know everything...I'm just throwing out some plausible explanations which is by no means an exhaustive list.
It's helpful to keep in mind Occam's Razor. |

For what it is worth, Chomsky "made his career" in academia. While some of his ideas in linguistics are in refute now, his ideas were once fresh and sparked a glut of research. His impact is impressive.
If it was not for his academic record, his thoughts on politics would probably not have been listened to.
While it is fairly well known that the government spies on all of us, I am sure people like Chomsky are singled out. And, his record is clean. The man is an academic with an eye towards the "truth," even if it goes against mainstream American political thought.
I seriously doubt the American government would threaten him as Chomsky would go public with that and it would be embarrassing. And, I seriously doubt the government would target him.
Unless, he was doing something that broke the law. Then, he would be arrested fast.
So, if Chomsky says there is nothing to 9/11 conspiracy theorists it is probably because he has not seen any evidence to suggest otherwise. That is the academic that he is. Personally, I don't care for his politics but I can't argue with his integrity. |

No they aren't. There are legitimate issues within the government and how we handled stuff related to 9/11, but the 9/11 Alternative Theories are essentially burying and spreading misinformation about |

9/10 Rumsfeld claims $2,300,000,000,000 missing from Pentagon, 9/11 planes Twin Towers/Pentagon, prearranged war plans put into effect,...
Yeah, nothing to see here, people. Move along... |

There is nothing to see. Let us know when you have some evidence for these outlandish theories. |

Chomsky is more rational than you, that's all.
And, as it's already been pointed out, he's made a name for himself for steering linguistics into a new direction, away from the old unscientific approaches. |

What did I say that wasn't true? Rumsfeld didn't make the announcement? Planes didn't hit the buildings the next day? The war plans weren't prearranged?
I don't have a "theory", pal. You can buy the official line and it means nothing to me. |

Didn't we used to have a sticky thread for 9/11? Like we do for the JFK assasination? |

You've got nothing, of course.
Popular Mechanics dealt with these "questions" definitively. |
