Looking for a new monitor. Mainly play SC2. I heard there are some good Korean IPS monitors that are kinda no name but use the same insides as name brand monitors. Any recommendations in general for gaming? |

I have used the Yamakasi Catleap 27" 1440p monitor for the past year or so... the colors are beautiful but the stand wobbled so I opened it up and removed it and put it on an arm. Lots of other people are starting to use the newer Qnix and X-star PLS ones http://www.overclock.net/t/1384767/official-the-korean-pls-monitor-club-qnix-x-star
I also have a Benq xl2420t 120hz monitor. It is much better for fps then my 1440p so I switch back and forth.
Look on danawa.com for prices once you find out a few models you might want to get then order one. The Korean IPS/PLS monitors are great for the price! |

i also use a 1440p monitor that uses the same lg panel as phatrick's catleap and the imac 27'.
i picked this one because it was relatively thin with a small bezel and has a vesa mount on the back for my dual-arm ergotron monitor arm.

i highly recommend one especially for the incredible price, however as phatrick also said, the framerates aren't that great for some applications that need super high framerates if you do a lot of fps and things like that. plus you need a relatively good gpu to run anything in 1440p especially if you are running two monitors.
for starcraft 2 a korean 1440p panel would be the ideal choice hands down. you can see way more of the field with one, you don't need to worry about super precise fps, and almost any gpu will run it even at 1440p.
my other monitor is 21:9 alphascan super wide (http://item2.gmarket.co.kr/English/detailview/item.aspx?goodscode=348346549) which is great for movie watching and other games. playing bioshock infinite in 21:9 was quite amusing. |

Why do the sellers at Yongsan seem to not even know of Catleap/Q-Nix/X-Star monitors? I prefer to buy my stuff in person, anyone know how we can do this? We're in the country of origin, should be easier than it is...

Is this really the same panel as the Q-Nix etc? That price is ridiculous. I wonder if they have a version with HDMI for a little bit more... |

That is strange... I bought my catleap in person at one the computer markets here in Busan. They had stacks of them at a few different sellers. The markets here are very small compared to Seoul! |
