For those who choose to have housing allowance, does your school tax it or do they give you the exact number stated in your contract?

Any cash that is paid is classed as revenue. revenue is taxed. If your employer pays it directly to their landlord they will get taxed.

But then you also earn pension on it, yes?

Pension and severance are based on your salary exclusive of your housing allowance. That's why employers bother to separate the two.
