Has anyone heard of or worked for this school? I saw some posts on here but they are all from 2009 or earlier. Anyone had any more recent experience with them?

In 2012, the campus located in Seongnam was closed. A new facility has been opened south of Icheon; 70+minute bus ride south of Seoul.
The new facility provides many foreign languages to all divisions of the Korean military; army, sp. forces, airforce, navy…

The new name of the school is called KDLI. Korea Defence Language Institute. At this post, most of the ESL teachers there have been there less than a year. There are 8+ foreigners employed as language instructors (Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Arabic, French, German, Spanish) and 12 foreigners teaching English.

KDLI also teaches foreign military personal Korean language too.

I worked there until mid-January this year.

I think there are only one or maybe two people still left from when I worked there. One or two were let go when it was contract renewal time. Even some of the Korean instructors are gone.

Aside from the normal silliness, we changed work locations in Sept '12 but did not change apartments. That meant we were given reduced hours to work, but spent an hour on the bus each way, so that our work day was expanded to take up our whole day but were not paid for the wasted time.

There was a new boss (every two years) who was talking about a new system. Since I was leaving I didn't pay any attention, so I can't fill you in.

The one good thing I can say about the school: The students are terrific. They are highly motivated, well disciplined, very respectful...and a load of fun to be around. Unlike public school kids and university students, the military students have loads of life experiences, so they actually have stories to tell.

Eventually--two or three years--the school will have apartments for the teachers out near the school. (Although it took more than ten years to build the school, so it could be longer.) I would suggest waiting until then to check out the place.
