Subway, buses to run late Tuesday
Dec 30,2013 For the landmark bell-ringing celebration on New Year’s Eve at Bosingak in Jongno District, Seoul Metropolitan Government will run subway trains on all one-to-nine lines for extended hours until 2 a.m. Wednesday. The city office will also have 44 bus lines in operation until 2 a.m.
Over 100,000 people wishing for a happy New Year are expected to attend the symbolic ceremony, which will be attended by Mayor Park Won-soon, the chief of the Seoul education office, the chairman of the Seoul city council and other figures in public service.
For those who will use the subway at City Hall Station to travel to Samseong Station in southern Seoul, the last train to catch comes at 1:34 a.m., while the last train bound for Seongsu Station in eastern Seoul comes at 1:52 a.m. For trains that go out of Seoul to Incheon or Suwon, the city government has advised people to check bus schedules before they leave as those subway lines are affected by the ongoing Korea Railroad Corporation’s labor union workers’ strike.
