Anyone know the going rate for a teacher with M.A. / CELTA in Shanghai?

I got a job offer from Shanghai University for 6,000 RMB per month and was wondering if anyone knows anything about this school or has a friend teaching in a Shanghai University?

I don't have an account on the China forum and by the time I get one - it'll be too late. Have to make a decision soon.

Unfortunately the English teaching environment in China is in a state of flux at the moment. (what part of China isn't though). Job standards and pay are all over the place. I have seen everywhere from 3,000 Rmb to 12,000 Rmb for job offers in China.

Shanghai is the richest city in China (apart from Hong Kong) and the pay, and cost of living, are highest there.

A person with an MA and a CELTA is worth around 10,000 Rmb in Shanghai.

University jobs are far lower paying than private sector jobs.

On the other hand, you will get 3 1/2 months vacation and great benefits (free healthcare and housing) with the univeristy gig.
