Howdy Folks!
I'm new to Cheongju, currently my 2nd week in, and struggling to find some beer partners...will you be mine?
Sound desperate enough?
But seriously, Cheongju seems pretty cool. Really have enjoyed my time here so far but I seem to enjoy going for a "quiet pint" much more that the other teachers at my school.
Anyone from around the city that would be interested in grabbing a pint or a coffee...flavoured stout? I joke, I'm not that much of an alcoholic.
Let me know!!!!
Oh also has anyone ever managed to find Porridge Oats or Creme Fraiche anywhere?? |

Cheongju has the highest number of alcoholic expats than any other city in Korea in my experience. Full of lots of "Gap year(s)" "teachers" whom I am sure you will find hanging around the local expat bars. |

I noticed that too. There are some heavy drinkers (both expat and Korean) in Cheongju. Why is that? |

Cheongju always did have a pretty good party scene relative to the size of the city. I spent 4 years there from '04-'08 and really enjoyed the night life.
To the OP, if you're interested in finding drinking partners and making friends, hop in a cab and head towards Chungdae university (Chungdae Chungmun, if memory serves correctly, will get you to the correct place). There are a bunch of expat bars there where you'll find what you're looking for - The Bugle (formerly Pearl Jam), Road King, Soundgarden - there will no doubt be crowds of expats who will share your affinity for beer. |
