*Hi I'm from the United States and I was just offered a job but I still have not received my CBC results. The start date is in the beginning of march and my CBC application was received on December 31st. I have all my other documents ready to go, so just waiting on the CBC results.

Getting a little nervous now because I still have to get an apostille after I receive the results (Although I intend to expedite it through a 3rd party vendor)

Think I should be ok? If not, any recommendations on what I should do?

It would help to specify your country of origin.

Contact your Congressional Representative. They have a dept. (or intern, whatever) that deals with expediting paperwork like this. (Under the auspices of Constituent Services. Or something like that.) Make sure you say that your job depends upon getting it expedited. Which it does. Give specifics about when you'll need it. That you'll need it REALLY REALLY quick. Once accepted, if accepted, it'll be back to you in around a week or two.

Edit: Additionally, putting in a request (a call) to the FBI CJIS division to send it directly to the Sec of State might help. But then you'd have to check whether or not you can turn in the paperwork n check separately (w/r/t yr CBC) with the Sec of State. Seriously, getting an apostille is the quickest part.

If you need it quicker than that (like in a week) or want like a 99.9% guarantee, then a 3rd party might be best? I know that being there physically results in quick turnover. I think. Only second-hand knowledge. If gov't shuts down again, you can expect delays. CJIS isn't considered necessary. I know. ugh

Wow thanks for all the help, much appreciated. I just called my congressional representative's office and talked to a case worker and he told me that they were not capable of performing that service Sad

And In regards to the 3rd party, that was for the apostille. I was thinking of sending an additional CBC request through an approved channeler, in hopes that I would receive it before my other request, but I cant seem i'm not sure if they accept this in korea.

I guess I just have to wait and pray that it comes soon...

Really? That sucks. Sorry to hear. Most representative websites I've looked at (IL), there's an option under "Constituent Services"- "Help with a Federal Agency" that has worked. eg https://quigley.house.gov/help-with-a-federal-agency/ Hm. Might be worth a look? Some bureaucrats are....um, special.

The FBI CJIS can be contacted directly and you can check up on its status. I've done this. You will need some sort of tracking info though.

Also: http://www.fbi.gov/news/news_blog/expedited-background-checks

If it helps, the previous year, when I was in Korea, the whole process took 2 month from shipment to reception, received with apostille. I did have them sent it to the Sec of State directly though. The apostille is said to take like a week to process and ship, once they receive it.
