Anyone? I'm on a tourist visa, actively looking for a job and awaiting my apostillized criminal background in the mail.
Is there any way I can change from a tourist visa to a D-10 visa, so I won't have to leave the country and get a new tourist visa?
I figure not, but thought I'd ask anyway. I'm doing all the same things I'd be doing on a D-10 visa (which I think is basically just a visa for people already in Korea but looking for a job), so if I could avoid going to Japan just for a new tourist visa, well that would be grand. |

There is a way to get a job hunting visa, but it would require the actual documents that you're waiting for.
How long have you been job hunting? Normally you can stay as a tourist for 90 days. That should be more than enough to find a job (and to get your CBC). If you're really waiting that long for the CBC, consider waiting in another country where you can find temp work without it. Most places that are hiring, are hiring for the immediate future. They aren't going to be interested in you if you have to wait 3 months for your documents to arrive. |

No, you can not. I have looked into this. Most other visas can be transfered to the D-10 but the B-1 and B-2 and not allowed.
Maybe you can apply for the D-10 in a third country but you would have to qualify for the D-10. Getting a D-10 out of country requires some qualifications like graduating from top University or worked professionally with a top FORBES listed company. Question remains is if a person from like Canada who does qualify for a out of country D-10 can apply for in a third country like Japan. I would expect confusion and problems. |
