Isn't there an Ombudsman/mediator in Seodaemun? The only one I can find is around Yangjae? This is for a non-payment of vacation pay which they said I could have if I didn't take my 2 weeks per contract, instead they wanted me to work through my vacation. I'd rather not go to the labor ministry at this point since I'm still working for said employer. |

On the vacation matter...after working for the same hagwon for 2 years, you should receive 16 days off during your 3rd year contract no matter what your contract says which is, if you're lucky, 2 weeks/10 days. This is according to my phone call to the labor ministry today. |

So who is going to enforce that law?
Hogwan are notorious for skirting the law on these kinds of issues.
The only time I've seen or heard of hagwon allowing vacation time is when they have enough teachers to pick up the slack.
That means that the other teachers have to cover your classes while you're
away and visa versa. If your haggie only has a couple teachers, I'd say your chances are pretty slim.
Best of luck though. |
