|
|
So I have been offered a job, I think.
However, the employer told me that I need to send him the remaining E2 documents, before doing the 'self medical check'. What I am wondering is, don't I need these documents to to apply for the E2 Visa? I am a bit confused with the procedure, to be honest. I am wondering does he mean I need to send the other remaining documents via email. Although he does specify that I send them by mail. I also wonder does he mean I should send the documents to him through the Korean Embassy, where I live.
I also don't know if I am supposed to be doing an interview for the job first. I mean that's a given, right? He never mentioned anything about an interview, just said he would offer me a job. Does this ever happen? I did show him a video of my self, so maybe that is why.
Also, do I do the self medical check before or after the employer agrees to hire me and sends me the contract? |

I assume you are currently in the US.
If so, you should apply for an E2 at the consulate in your country. You submit all documents yourself, in person. When you get the visa it becomes valid from the date you enter Korea.
It sounds as if your prospective employer is confused about the procedure. He can only apply for an E2 on your behalf if you are in Korea. Because it requires your passport for one thing.
Most likely he means for you to send copies or scans by email, because he wants to determine wether you are in fact eligible for an E2 before he commits himself. |

No, it sounds like the recruiter is trying to get her to send her documents before securing her a job to tie her to his services.
OP - NEVER send your documents until you have signed a contract |

The OP didn't say recruiter.
He said employer.
He also didn't say wether his employer requested original documents. If so then yes, do not send originals. But it is also quite likely he is requesting copies or scans to ascertain wether the employee is in fact ready and eligible for an E2.
Its pretty normal to send scans of documents to an interested prospective employer. So they can verify you are what you claim. |

True, but then she also asked: "Also, do I do the self medical check before or after the employer agrees to hire me and sends me the contract?"
You should get the contract signed before you send any documents. |

The normal procedure is:
-you apply for the job and send a scanned copy of your docs by email.
-if the like you, you get offered the job and the employer sends you a contract
-if you like the contract you accept the job.
-then you need to send your documents by courier (or mail if you don't mind them taking forever and possibly being lost)
-the employer will apply for a VIN (visa issuance number)
-when he gets the VIN (usually 1 or 2 weeks) he'll email you the number
-you go to the nearest Korean embassy or consulate and apply for a visa using the VIN. You won't need your degree, criminal record check, etc. Just your passport, photos, form, money (it's on the embassy website) |

Thanks for the advice, I think she means to send the documents via post. It's actually a recruiter I am dealing with, not employer. Don't worry, I wont send any documents without seeing the contract and signing it. Are you not supposed to send the self medical check as well? Also, are you supposed to send you University transcripts as well? they didn't require them from me. |

When you have a contract in hand you mail/courier the originals of:
-contract
-degree copy (with apostille)
-CBC (with apostille)
-Self medical
-Copy of passport information page
to the employer (usually via the recruiter).
They will then go to immigration and apply for the visa confirmation number.
This takes from 4-10 working days.
When they get the number they will e-mail it back to you.
You will then go to the nearest Korean embassy/consulate and apply for your visa.
This USUALLY requires:
-application
-visa confirmation number
-passport sized/type photo
-fees (vary by country)
-(transcripts if you are in Canada).
Processing of a visa takes from overnight to 4 working days (depending on which consulate you go to).
