Hello guys, I recently got offered a job and it will be my first time teaching in Korea. I am at the stage where I must send in my documents to my recruiter so that the hagwon can get me my visa issuance number. I am from Canada so any help with the Canadian E2 process is welcome.

In my rush to get everything sent today, I completely forgot a step. I forgot to bring the notarized documents to the Korean consulate to get verified and stamped. The package is currently in transit to my recruiter.

1. Should I quickly get my documents notarized again and get it verified and send it off to the recruiter in Korea and emailing him not to use the other notarized documents?

2. With the CBC, do I get the copies notarized+verified or the actual CBC notarized+verified?

3. My notary public did not put a seal on every page either. Should I go back and request the seals on each photo copy?

Quick answers are appreciated! Thanks!

1) YES.

2) Actual CBC and copy of the degree.

3) sure.. never hurts and costs nothing more.

If I get the CBC notarized and sent off, doesn't that mean I would have to get another CBC if the job flakes or falls through?

IF the CBC that you sent does not have the embassy certification then the job falls through since the document will be rejected by immigration. Same with your degree copy.

Yes, you need another CBC. You have to get it notarized and then taken to the Korean embassy/consulate for certification.

The same with your degree.
You need to get another "certified true copy" made at your local notary then have that "true copy certified" at the Korean embassy/consulate in Canada.

In general, when you come here you should have another complete set of documents. If you find after a month or two that you don't like the school or your boss, you will need a new set of documents in order to leave Korean and get a new visa.

The CBC is only valid for 6 months, but I would presume that you'll know whether not you want to stay long before that.

My recruiter asked me specifically for a copy of my CBC that was notarized and stamped by the consulate, not the original...I hope he was right, guess I'll find out soon enough.

I'm starting my first job in March, so I'm not super experienced or anything but I would say yes to getting all your documents notarized and stamped by the Korean consulate...I would get in touch with your employer or recruiter to let them know the situation as well.

So I got my Notarized Degree and Original CBC stamped today by the Korean Consulate and sent it off. They took my school transcript. One quick question I have is what are they going to do with the school transcript?

The reason I ask is because since I received a job offer, I was able to get my degree printed off early (February), so my confer date is now February on an updated transcript. However, my transcript that I ordered a week ago says that I am awarded my Bachelor's degree but my confer date is in June. This is the transcript I gave to the Korean Consulate at the time of stamping.

Will this affect anything?

If I got the seal and stamp am I pretty much good to go for my visa issuance?

I will be using an update transcript with the proper confer date when I go to apply for the visa with the visa issuance number.

No worry. They just get added to your file. They usually don't actually read them other than to confirm that it is a bachelors degree that you have.

Okay...now I'm a bit worried and wondering if my recruiter miscommunicated with me on this...ttompatz, do you think I am going to have a problem with getting my VIN because I sent a copy and not the original of my CBC? It is notarized and stamped by the korean consulate.

Let us know what happens. Have you tried giving your recruiter a call? My recruiter received everything and sent it off to the school already. So now all I can do is wait for the issuance number.

It's all good, I just received the number today. I just have to go to the consulate and fill out the visa application now. Good luck with everything! Where will you be working, Metsuna?

That's good to hear! How long did it take to get the VIN from when your package got delivered to Korea? I will be working in or around Seoul.

My docs arrived Jan 24, my recruiter sent them to the school by the 26th...and then I received my VIN yesterday, Feb 13. It took approximately 13 business days...and I'm not sure but I think there must of been some kind of holiday in there for new years.

My docs arrived in Korea on Thursday February 13th and I assume the recruiter sent it off to the school on the 14th. I received the Visa Issuance Number yesterday (tuesday) and went to the Consulate today (February 19th). So getting the visa issuance number took 3 business days which was pretty darn fast. The documents were accepted and am told to wait 5 business days.

Am I pretty much home free at this point? Or is there a chance the consulate can also cockblock and deny the visa? Thanks.
