Hello,

Anyone know where the Chinese Embassy is in Seoul? Do they have a website in English? How long is the process for an American to get a tourist visa? What do i have to present there in order to get the visa? Passport of course, but anything else? air ticket? etc. Do you know the phone number there? Any other relevant information to pass along?

thanks

It's in the Kyobo building, right outside the Gangnam subway stop.

It takes three days - maybe - to get your tourist visa. You can get it sooner if you pay more money. I'm a little foggy here, I seem to remember going on Tuesday and getting it on Friday.

You need a passport and a picture to get the visa.

Any other relevant info? Yes. When you apply, do so before noon. I once went there at 2 PM and they told me the time had passed for that day. I had to go back the next day in the morning.

Have a nice time in China.

PRevious poster got the building right-- Kyobo, above the bookstore, on the 10th floor, but the stop wrong-- Purple line, Gwanghwamun. The visa office is open ONLY in the morning for pick up and drop off. The price is lower for 5 days than 3, and it's about 65,000 won for 5 day service. MUCH cheaper for Koreans (less than 30, more than 20,000). Don't need to show them the ticket. 30 day visa, can be renewed in China twice in every provincial capital and some other places, too. You can have a travel agent do the visa thing for you, probably about 80,o00.

Have fun.
