My friend was arrested last summer in Korea whilst working on an E2 visa teaching English. He later received a 3,000,000 won fine, which he has since paid off. There were no consequences with regards to his current job or visa.
He is now planning to start a course at a Korean university soon. He has already been to immigration to apply to change his visa to D4, and was told that he will receive confirmation within 2 weeks once the application has been processed. He wasn't required to submit a Korean criminal record check at immigration.
If/When the record shows up during the next two weeks, what are the chances that his application will be rejected? |

Was he fined by a court or did he pay "blood money" to avoid going to court and thus not getting a record? |
