Apparently this is what you can expect if you opt for a job in the DPRK. Interesting post:

I'd be interested in such a job myself, but I wonder how much freedom they allow you.

Do they allow you to go hiking in the countryside for example? Carry an slr camera and lens?

You would have a secretary at least in the office assisting you. As for any place outside you would be accompanied. No question.

There was a book written about this 5 or so years ago. A comic information book written by a Canadian who worked on their computer systems.

Why would anybody help that regime?

http://www.businessinsider.com/north-korea-prison-camps-2013-9#in-a-country-of-24-million-people-up-to-200000-have-reportedly-disappeared-into-brutal-concentration-camps-found-throughout-the-country-1

That computer science guy must not have a conscience. Sanctions should be tightened and the screws turned on that regime. There is no way ever, I would support that evil regime!!

From the BBC documentary, it sounded like, for the most part, the foreign faculty don't leave the campus. Although my friend uses FB from there, I never ask him questions that might put him in an awkward situation.

You ever get the urge to send him messages like "The Eagle has landed! The Eagle has landed!"

I'd prefer to not hear about him getting lined up against a wall to join Uncle Jang...

It's not just him that would be put in danger. The people that are in charge of accompanying him and looking after him could be put in serious jeopardy
by any shenanigans. Actually the wouldn't have a congressman to look after them and keep them from dying in a gulag.

How are you ever going to change the regime unless you engage with it? More and more isolation just further entrenches and polarizes.

Those teachers are a window to the outside world, a lever that can have a positive effect on the future generation.
