|

Hi,
I'm hoping to come back to Korea some time soon. I'm on Effexor (Venlafaxine) and have read on here and widely on the internet that it can, at times, cause a False Positive for the illegal substance PCP in the medical exam.
I know my options are:
a. Be honest and declare such on the application and hope they accept me (which they probably won't given Korea's attitude to mental health)
b. go off my meds for 5 days prior to the test
c. risk it and hope that the meds don't spark a False Positive on the exam.
So, my first question is, has ANYONE gone through the medical exam with this particular drug in their system? If so, how did it go?
Secondly, if a false positive did pop up, what's the procedure in that event? Do they test the same sample again or just write me off as a junkie or test a new sample a few days later? If that was the case, then I'd be willing to risk doing the test with my meds in my system and then go off them in the event of a positive result first time.
Any positive input greatly appreciated.
EDIT: What would be really helpful is if there were some way I could find out from an MD or Psychiatrist in Korea whether or not it could come up as a false positive. It all depends on the test kit that the hospital uses I suppose.
Anyone have contact details of someone I could call about this such as an English speaking MD/psychiatrist in Seoul? If you could pm the details that would be very helpful. Thanks. |
