anyone ever have problems with your former hagwons when they were called for references?
A recruiter called the school. Then the recruiter told me that the school said that they don't hire foreign teachers. I don't know why they would say that. I completed my contract and I was a good employee. I never had any problems with the school.
If the school basically says "She didn't work here" then that's going to hurt my chances of getting another job.
Or could the recruiter be lying to me? |

Did you have a copy of your visa, tax documents, pension or health payments, MOE registration.
Quite easy to prove you worked there, unless you were under the table or on a verbal contract getting cash. |

I was under the (perhaps mistaken) impression that employers were required to provide their employees with some particular form which confirmed their work history at the place of employment. Could you go to the school and request that form? Or are you back in your home country? |

The mystery is solved.
I had someone call the school for me. The person answering the phone didn't know they hired foreign teachers in the past. Now she has been told to confirm my employment in the future. |

Not mistaken, this is true. Basically it just states how long you worked there, what your duties were and your working hours IIRC. |

I'm in my home country now.
Someone was telling me you could get an employment record from government offices that would list where you worked. I might get that for future reference once I'm in Korea.
Would you go to the government office in the city you worked? (I worked in Uiejeongbu and Seoul so I need to go to 2 offices) Or is there a main office which would hold all your records in one place? |
