I hear that the next semester starts in September. I just enrolled for my required TEFL course of 120 hours. I am still hoping to get on the boat for this year. Is this possible? If I end up in the private sector that's alright too but just wondering how quickly I have to rush my completion of the course in order to get my application out with good chance of being selected. |

For hagwon work there is no panic on the TEFL cert. You do need your other documents in hand when you apply. If you have them (apostilled documents) then start applying now. You will be here in a couple of months.
For EPIK/GEPIK/etc they have pretty much hit the deadlines for applications for the fall term. Application are being processed now. Applications for next Feb will be processed in Oct.

Actually I worked for GEPIK but now work under my city hall although we still go to GEPIK functions and what not. I would still advise sending out your paperwork as soon as possible to not only get a head start but also have the possibility of still securing a job sooner than later. Sometimes they hit a snag and someone bails or suddenly quits/doesnt have required documents correctly done and you could take their place.
I HIGHLY advise avoiding the private sector as Ive seen more hits and bad feelings than good. Although you could get lucky and snag a decent hagwon to work at. Also you can join the GEPIK facebook group as they sometimes post positions for schools (its not an OFFICIAL page but instead made by GEPIK teachers) I wish you good luck |
