So, I've read four or five different threads that discussed whether to give a gift to your director the first week.
My question is did you give a gift to your employer and if so, what was it.
I'm on the fence whether I should give a gift. I mean, it can't hurt can it? |

I could. It could lead to awkwardness. It could lead to him/her and/or others thinking it was an attempted bribe. Others might think you are a brown noser and resent you. If could reinforce to the director your status is lowly and that you are indebted and thankful for him/her/them for providing you with a job. (This could lead to/increase the odds of you being stepped on/taken advantage of in the future. But maybe not. Maybe I am wrong. Ask some others and see what they say.) |

Just bringing in a snack for everyone (not only the director) to share can go a long way in terms of good will, and it's a fairly common Korean practice. Buying a cake roll at Paris Baguette or something would probably be fine. |

If your teaching elementary students provide boxes of snacks on a bi-weekly basis to the students. Be generous and the students will definitely like you. It's worth spending the money on that. |
