The person contacted me personally by pm around the time of that thread to ask for money, someone that I met YEARS ago once.

Sad to hear she still hasnt gotten things together. I cant even believe that the police at the very least cant do something about their ID cards being held by this bad uncle. Police may not be able to make him pay money, but they can certainly do something about the documents and card.

So her boyfriend's uncle purchased her a house but won't let her move in and that's why she's homeless. Odd that someone who has been here and studied the language for over four years has to depend on her boyfriend's uncle to get a student ID and bank account....

I am pretty fascinated by people like this and how delusional they must be to think that people will believe their stories. I actually think that they sometimes believe the stories themselves. There are a lot of really easy ways that she could remedy her situation, but she seems to have an excuse for everything.

Things to ponder:

She seems to have been living in the same place for at least the last 4 years, but she has no friends who she could crash with. And it would seem that she has never heard of couch surfing, and that he Korean boyfriend also has no contact with anyone at all, including friends and family, other than a spiteful ex and an evil uncle who seems to be a bad guy from a disney movie.

She has had 35,000 won a night to pay for a motel, but it would be much cheaper to stay at a goshiwon or hasuk jip (many of which have staple foods like rice and kimchi included in the price). Or even to rent an apartment! 35,000 x 30 = 1,050,000. I pay less than that for rent, and bills in central Seoul! I'm sure there are some expats looking to rent out a room or similar for just a few hundred thousand a month!

She claims to need to have both "money for coffee" and also "a registration card" to teach privates.....

She is a student. How does she pay for school/books etc?

She hasn't eaten "in 5 days", but has run up a tab of 35,000 at the PC room??? A triangle kimbap is 800 won.

I do hope we get some updates.

As I recall, when I met her years ago, she was only 19 or 20 at the time. We exchanged some messages when she made a post somewhere about finding the location of a KLPT exam taking place at my university, and since i was taking the same exam..offered to guide her to the building


I dont know if she is a scammer though. She obviously made some bad choices in life, but I think we all did when we were younger. That said however, I find it hard to believe that after all of this time, the situation is still as bad as she claims.

If you are reading this girl, here is a way you get get some help. Use that pc room and webcam to make some youtube videos. Speak Korean, tell your story, and post those all over some Korean websites/facebook pages. II am willing to bet that within days you will have money rolling in from Korean people, and in months will likely be on some tv show telling your story and people gushing/fawning/ashamed that a young WHITE FEMALE who loved Korea and her Korean boyfriend so much to leave her family to struggle with him is having such a hard time her in Korea due to as you claim, vindictive locals.

I don't get the impression that she's a scammer. I get the impression that she's probably someone who has been supporting herself with illegal work for the past several years while studying Korean. Work has not always been steady and she doesn't get all the benefits that legal teachers get such as a free apartment. So things can be pretty rough at times. She's had some bad luck with boyfriends too.

Some of the exaggerations in her story just scream crazy.

Her ex was out to destroy her.

Her boyfriend's uncle is the head prosecutor.

He bought them a house in Zenith, the newest, biggest, most expensive building in Busan.

She hasn't eaten in 5 days.


She's not just broke, she has 300 won and a cardigan.

Also her boyfriend is a local but can't go to the gov't office to get a new ID.
