| Went to the 7 luck casino at the Hilton hotel last night. No more scantily clad cocktail waitresses bringing free booze on demand. Big disappointment. Anyone know when did this start? It had been a while since I went there. |

| Probably not dry. Alcohol = an intoxicated state = poor decision making = more time/money spent on gambling = more money for the casino. Giving away drinks is a smart strategy. If they can get people to buy them, even better (for their business). |

| If you want to get free drinks back just follow my advice. The next time you're there wave a bunch of money in some pit boss's face and say "Wow, I usually drink the free drinks, get drunk, and lose my ass. But when I'm sober I win a bundle every time. Thanks for getting rid of those free drinks." |

| Probably tired of all the freeloaders who'd spend 5 bucks on slots and drink 50 bucks worth of free drinks. Next time tell your skinflint, kimbap-subsisting, "I'm too scared to gamble" friends to stay home. I've brought those types to the casino and they're such a drag. I also always end up doing poorly when I'm with them. |

So no more free drinks in the main room. It appears that the VIP room still has free drinks as usual. Now there is a drink cart that goes around dispensing juice and sodas but no more cocktails. This cart also has a vat of beer with a spigot. It looked gross so I declined. The drink cart passed my table once in the three hours I was there. You must get up to get juice or water in a timely fashion. So it seems that you can't even buy cocktails there unless in the VIP room. I have no idea what it takes to get into the VIP room.

I don't consider myself a low roller as I drop money there. However, without alcohol I won't be going much in the future. The casino probably doesn't care because their mainly Chinese clientele doesn't seem to need much encouragement or ambiance to gamble away. |

Here we go again with "It's all the English teacher foreigner's fault!" line from SR.
English teachers make up a very small percentage of customers at the casinos. Very very small. Whenever I go I, or my group, am the only ones in there. It's Chinese/Japanese/Russian tourists and Koreans who have dual citizenship or some other way of getting in who make up the large majority.
Second, I hardly ever see anyone really sitting at the slot machines, at least for a long time. It happens, like in all casinos, but the tables are much much more busy. In fact, if they would open more tables they'd have more gamblers. They often have 3 $100 blackjack tables with one person (or none) at each while there is a crowd at the $10 table. Hey, it's $10, but people can blow through $100 in less than an hour while maybe getting 2 watered down drinks.
Third, I don't even think you can get drinks at the slots. Waitresses don't just float around and ask. You have to ask the dealer or pit boss at a table. I'm sure you could get up and find a waitress or something, but in my experience you don't get anything unless you've been at a table for a little while.
Not everything that happens in Korea is the fault of cheap English teachers. This might shock you, but sometimes Koreans are just cheap. Do you really think a casino is loosing money due to a few English teachers not spending enough? If that were the case Las Vegas would have been broke years ago. You don't think people there sit at penny slots all day while sucking back free drinks and cheap meals? But somehow Vegas casinos have survived. I wonder what their secret is! |

| Koreans love free shit as much as anyone. We've all witnessed them going to town with the hot dog onions in Costco! However, I must admit that the one time I went to a casino here I did take full advantage of the freebies, whilst spending very little. Guilty as charged. |

Probably better for many of the people on this forum not to drink and gamble. People just cannot comprehend what an absolute rip off casinos are. Many go for the jackpot that is going to come to them if they go there enough. Those are very rare. The vast majority of people just lose all the money they spend.  |

The casino is pretty bad anyway, and they're just going to make it worse. Great strategy guys. If it wasn't for the deals on priceline at the Intercontinental hotel and their nice pool, I would never go there. |

Any seasoned gambler knows that different tables and nights have a certain energy. Now, this isn't a guarantee, but you walk into a loose table where people are smiling and having a good time (of course this may be just because they are already winning) and you can't stop winning. And even if you can't win big, someone else you're with wins big. Walk into a casino witha bunch of your friends who are too scared to bet anything or those stupid ajosshis that take the game wayyyyy tooo seriously and think they can game the casino and you invariably end up puttering along.
I can't explain it, it's like that feeling when you walk up to the dart board or the pool table or stroll onto the basketball court and you just know you're money that night and there is no stopping you. |
