|
|
Hello,
I lived in Korea for four years and left almost six years ago. I've been back a few times since, and plan on coming back this summer for a week or two, but from my understanding, a lot has changed since 2009 in terms of cell phone services, etc.
When I was there, I had a simple Samsung phone which did not have a sim card, it was fixed to some system on which only Korean phones and compatible phones could function.
I now live in Saudi Arabia, where I purchased a Samsung Galaxy with Duo Sim function. From my understanding, I can simply place a second sim card for any country in the other slot and it will work in that country.
Is it possible to simply pick up a temporary sim card at the airport in Incheon? Or at some Telecom place in Incheon/Seoul upon my arrival?
Any advice would be appreciated, as I am not so adept in cell phones, especially when in Korea.
All the best. |

As long as your phone isn't carrier locked you can just walk into any SK Telecom store and ask for PPS service. They will charge you 9900₩ for the sim card and will load whatever amount you want on the phone. 20000₩ is the minimum to open the account from what I remember. |

I don’t know whether the other carriers do it or not but you can get a pre-paid SIM card from KT Olleh even as a tourist (with a passport, no ARC needed). http://expatblog.tistory.com/177 |
