Does anyone have any idea how long it takes to go from a D-10 visa to an E-2? I'm wondering because I have applied for the D-10, and I'm going to go to Korea and stay with a friend until I find a job. My wonderment is whether I'll be able to apply for any of the ASAP jobs. Any input would be appreciated! |

Change of status = 30 minutes (if everything is in order).
Receipt of ARC = 20 days.
Were you actually able to apply for and receive a D10 from abroad based on a simple BA without prior experience in Korea?

I've applied, I'll let you know in a week or so if I actually get it. They said you had to have gone to one of the top 200 world universities, and mine made the list, surprisingly, so we'll see! |

It's the Times list, and your school has to be on it for the last three years. |

Let me clarify. Your school has to have been on the list for the last 3 years (consecutively) or on the list in the last 3 years. |

I can answer this question because I did this. It takes about 2 weeks to switch from a D10 to E2 (at least to get your new ARC card). Now since you will arrive in Korea without an ARC card and only a visa thingy in your passport you first need to make an ARC card then once you get the card you can switch to E2. Making an ARC card can take 2 weeks too. Total time is about 4 weeks. I kind of messed up and spent a week settling in, 2 weeks to find and accept a job then applied for my E2+ARC Card. The women was not happy that I didn't have an ARC yet and I had to get 2 medical checks because my ARC card was delayed for so long. Anyway my advice is as soon as you land in Korea your first priority should be to get your ass to immigration and get an ARC card.

I was able to get one from Canada with a Bachelors of Music and a teaching degree with no experience. |
