I have been working in Korea for 15 months and my hagwon boss is telling me I need to apply for all new appostiled and notarized copies of my FBI crc and diploma to submit to the department of education to be registered as a teacher. He said I could not simply get copies of my original from immigration. As we all know this is a process that takes months on end. Anyone had a similar request or solution? |

If you are on an E2 then the MOE will take immigration made copies of the ones they have on file (in spite of what your boss says).
Alternatively, tell him that you have ordered a new set and they should be here by Christmas. He'll probably default to the immigration copies then.

Ttompatz is correct. It's simple to get those copies from Immigration. I have done it twice. The only reason I can imagine your boss would encounter any difficulty is if for some reason Immigration didn't have scans of your documents on file. Otherwise, it cost me less than 1,000 won for copies of my diploma and CBC. |

I am guessing from your original post that you are working for the same employer for the past 15 months? If that is the case, then it seems strange to me that since you have not changed employers, why your boss would be asking for the documents again. Just asking for clarification, because it seems strange. I know the documents are being submitted to the local MOE but the system is not that difficult to work through. The MOE does not need a new set of documents for you that are already on file at Immigration. As it was mentioned, you just need to get photocopies from immigration and submit those. No need to do something that is not needed. IMHO |

Are you an E2 waygook or are you a Gyopo (F4)? If you are an F4 then you need originals for MOE.
Also I thought MOE was getting rid of the requirement of those having E2 to submit second copies to MOE.
