I've been told that President Park has signed a bill into law prohibiting 1st and 2nd graders from learning in the after school programs in an effort to reduce stress for young learners (but hagwons are ok). Unfortunately, 1st and 2nd graders make up about 50% or so of the after school profits. Basically this means that all after school programs will be closing their doors and many of us will be out of a job. This law is said to be taking affect mid September. Has anyone else heard this and if so, is my information correct and is there anything more to add? |

I've also noticed after school jobs are longer working hours than before. If people accept this (rather than resist), not only will the jobs and job offerings be suckier, there will be less jobs available (a product of fewer people covering more hours…for no increase in payment no less. >_<) Also, there is a chance of being dropped come September.

A lot of after school companies are only hiring F series visa holders now partly due to law changes but also because programs only need part time teachers.
It seemed like a solid market due to the number of public schools cutting native teachers, but that may no longer be the case.
If a school (or after school program) isn't making money then it will close and sadly people will be within jobs. |
